The Misuse of “Alby”

At sixteen months Miss. Leah Bug has begun to abuse the word “owie”. {Or in her case, “alby” as she says it.}

For example. At dinner time:

Leah: “I stuck”

Me: You’re not stuck you’re strapped in.

Leah: “Alby, Alby, Alby, Mommy!”

Me: No owie, Leah, you’re strapped in so that you don’t fall.

She doesn’t just use “owie” {“alby”} when she is in pain. She uses it for any discomfort, or irritation.

While sitting on the couch just now, while Mel was keeping her from falling off the couch, she pulled an “alby”. As Mel put it, “That’s the misuse of “alby” Leah.” (He actually says “alby” instead of owie, so when she begins to correctly pronounce the word, I deserve all credit.)

{PS} Right now Leah and Daddy are kissing Leah’s babies. A kiss from Leah has become her placing her lips on you and saying, “Mmmmmmm-ma”. It’s so super cute!! Here's some camera phone pics....
