Flushing the vomit...from my blog...

When you're pregnant it's hard to think about anything but babies, and baby stuff, and pregnancy, and due dates, and comparing pregnancies, and reading about pregnancy, and talking about being pregnant, and talking about babies, and planning for a new baby. It's a syndrome.

Your brain basically becomes a toilet full of baby-preg vomit. And I seriously need to flush it.

Every time I sit down to blog the drome comes along and it hits, "Baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, pregnant, baby." Everything that comes to mind has SOMEthing to do with either being pregnant or having a baby. {Which is basically the same thing.} I specifically made a seperate blog for all things baby, hoping to "get it out of my system" so that I can resume my normal blog over chyea. But no matter what I do, I can't flush the baby-preg vom from my brain.

This is a problem.

This is a problem, because non-pregnant/non-new moms don't want to read about FINALLY finding a nursery, and how you're planning an awesome "Meet the Baby" party, and how you haven't pooped right in months. Or slept for that matter. They just don't.

I know, because the NORMAL me sees that crap and moves along. {But once you put a baby in my uterus, I'm drawn to it like a bug to a zapper light.}

I want to blog about shows I've watched, and the funny crap my kids have done, and what an awesome birthday I had yesterday. So I'm going to sit and try to do just that. And I'm going to read, and reread and edit, and reedit until I have flushed all baby/preg talk from said posts.

Let's see how this goes...

My blog sucks...

There has been many times that I have sat down, and went through my entire blog from start to finish. And I laughed at myself. And I laughed at the kiddos. And I laughed at how I could take situations in my life, and turn them into stories! Stories I could share with others, and one day share with my kids!

I had mojo. And my blog was proof of that mojo. I could remember things that had happened, and was able to put them in written form! And usually add a few laughs along the way! I would sit and create funny drawings and pictures to go along with my posts, or I would spend so much time finding the perfect picture online to go with whatever post I was working on. I put so much time and effort into them!

They may not seem great to other people, but they were always awesome to me. I made sure of it!

Well, I lost that mojo. My blog freaking sucks now.

I can't write about anything, and when I do, it's just...writing. No creativity, no laughs, no charm, no embellishments. It's lame. It's lamer than lame.

I'm able to keep my family up-to-date with what's going on, which is the main purpose of the blog, and  I've also been able to document memories. But it's just not entertaining to me anymore.

I don't understand how I can take something as comical as potty training Leah, and just write the most boring post possible about her achievement!! I wish I could have my family and friends laughing as much as I have laughed throughout this process.

It makes me sad. But more importantly, it makes me angry! >:[

I'm ready to have my creativity back! I'm ready to be able to WRITE again, and I'm ready to be able to talk without word vomit. All I'm saying, is this better be one creative kid brewing in my tum, because he's stealing my mojo!

I just pray it returns.

Accidents happen! Right?

I've got to be honest. I am baffled that my hair has not gone significantly more gray since Leah's birth!

She is the definition of accident prone! No seriously! Look!

accident-prone
adj
more liable than most people to be involved in accidents

That is most definitely her!

Leah even started off accident prone. She has been the only one of my babies to be admitted to the special care nursery. {A less intense NICU.} She had complications at birth from a pneumothorax, which is basically a collapsed lunge. I should have known from there that we'd be in for it.

Even as an immobile infant, she would still obtain freak accident wounds. Something would fall on her, Joshua or Hailey would trip and fall on her, and if I remember correctly I'm pretty sure she was stepped on at one point.

The first "big" accident was Christmas Eve of 2009. Her older brother accidentally smashed her little finger in his bedroom door resulting in surgery. This was followed by a broken leg in February of 2010. November she fell, and her poor face caught her fall leaving her with a CT scan. She ended up being fine! {Other than a sinus infection they caught on the CT scan.}

This time frame, of course, was speckled with smaller injuries. Skinned knees, bruised shins, goose eggs, and one of the worse minor injuries was when she fell out of the car and landed face first in our gravel driveway. No x-rays, or CT's, just busted lips, bruised head, and skinned face. True, skinned knees and bruises are the norm for kids. Joshua and Hailey have acquired quite their own collection. It's just that Leah seems to get them at least 4X more than they ever did!

We spent this morning in the ER to find out that she most likely has a broken nose. They didn't want to do a CT scan, because she wasn't showing any signs of a brain injury, and they didn't want to expose her to the radiation if it could be avoided. They also said there's not much that can be done for a broken nose, and if anything, it would have to be checked once all of the swelling went down. We will be scheduling a follow-up with an ear, nose, and throat specialist and hope for the best between now and then.

While sitting in the ER, the whole thing felt so routine to me, that I wasn't even scared! When I realized that I wasn't feeling the normal worrisome horror I used to feel with each injury, I realized I was growing immune to it! And as I watched Leah walking around, playing, smiling, and laughing I realized that she too seems to have grown immune to her injuries as well.

I don't know what 2011 holds for us, but I honestly hope is as injury-less as possible!

Word Vomit

I need dire help.

I seriously can't even form thoughts into words any longer. I can't form thoughts period actually. It's disgraceful.

I called to cancel our appointment this evening with H&R Block. {Mel won't be able to make it home in time.} I feel sorry for whoever it was I spoke with. I should have rehearsed before I called.

"Hi I was wondering if I could cancel, well we have an appointment tonight. I'd like to reschedule it please." *flustered* Oh gosh why aren't my words coming out right?!?!?!

"Sure! What's your name?"

"Melv...well it might be under my husbands name, Mel, Melvin Renwick, R-E-N-W-I-C-K....it was scheduled for 7??"

"Oh yes, here he his, and when would you like to reschedule?"

"Same time tomorrow if possible please."

"Would you like to keep the same agent?"

"No, we couldn't schedule with our last year person, so whoever matters." *mortified*  Oh my gosh, what just came out of my mouth? I'm throwing up words. I am vomiting words at this poor lady!!!!!

*silence*

*awkward laugh* "I'm sorry, I'm having trouble forming words, I just can't get my thoughts together!" *awkward laugh*

"Ohhhh, it's okay!" *small awkward laugh*

"What I'm trying to say, is we couldn't schedule with our normal agent this year, so whoever you put us with is fine."

Luckily, I was able to reschedule and hang up before any further mortification.

I've been accused of having diarrhea of the mouth. Jabbering on and on, not knowing when to shut up. {Especially when I'm nervous, I am a TALKER when I am nervous.} But I believe that was the first word vomit I have experienced. And I have a feeling it won't be the last.

I've been having to focus and pay attention to what is coming out of my mouth, other wise I would sound like someone who is on the verge of, or really having a, stroke. And I'm not saying that to make fun. Strokes aren't funny. But that is truly what I sound like!

My poor scrambled egg brain.

As you can see, I'm still really struggling with blogging. The word vomit isn't just in speech, I am having a really hard time writing as well! It's the whole "forming thoughts" thing that is getting to me. I have an idea of what I want to say, but it's like it's tumbling in a dryer, and I can't form it into something legible.

And I miss blogging darn it!

I've seriously lost all creative activity and it's BLOWS. I want myself back.  :( I want my BRAIN back!

You're not a big girl, 'til you rock the BGP's!!

Day 7!! It is officially day 7 of big girl pantie wearing by my Leah bug!!!

Monday morning I put big girl panties on her, and she stayed in them ALL day with only one accident! Tuesday she had another accident, and may or may not have pooped on our kitchen floor, but still doing sorta kinda well! Wednesday, ACCIDENT FREE!! Thursday, one accident. It is Sunday, and she has been accident free since Thursday!

I am so incredibly proud of her!

We were out running around all day yesterday, and she did not have ONE accident. She did SO WELL! We had to take 4 or 5 potty breaks, but she did awesome. {And it really worked out great, because I seemed to have to pee every time she did anyway!} Even when she had to go, and we were stuck in a red light, she was able to hold it. I could BURST with pride at that moment!

Not that I really have anything to do with her success, but I'm proud none-the-less.

The next step will be graduating from her little training potty to the real deal. She can use it, she just needs help, or at least a step stool. And maybe one of those little sits to keep from falling in.

The final step will be diaper free nights. And that is the only thing keeping me from saying she's 100% potty trained. We're so paranoid of a bed wetting that we're putting her in diapers at night. More often than not, especially lately, she has been waking up DRY! If she keeps up with the dry diapers in the morning, we will graduate to sleeping in the BGP's!! EXCITING!!

I am going to enjoy and cherish these few months of diaper freeness!

Dream Decoder Needed

I had a dream this morning. Yes this morning, during my two hour nap with Leah. Normally I don't dream such weirdness during naps, my subconscious usually holds out for the nightly sleeps for those. I have weird dreams often, but this one was just SO weird to me!

Not "eating cereal out of your head" weird, but just strange. {My BF had a dream she was eating cereal out of her head. I don't think I will ever forget that, and I wasn't even the one who dreamed it.}

I had a dream that while vacationing somewhere tropical I came across a Mexican restaurant. {Nothing in my dream suggests I was actually in Mexico though.} Anyhow, I was warned that while the food there was SO awesomely delicious, I must NEVER eat there. They didn't have running water, or utensils, and no one washed their hands. So not only was the food prepared by nasty dirty hands, but it was delivered with nasty dirty hands, and you had to consume it with your own nasty dirty hands.

Another disturbing key to this dream was the community barrel of cheese dip that stood in the center of the room.

I know in my dream that I was NOT thrilled to be eating anywhere this unsanitary, but was intrigued that while so gross and unsanitary the food was SO good that it still managed to bring in customers. Also, I was invited by friends to eat there, and I couldn't let them down.

I ordered my usual, pollo con crema, with flour tortillas, and cheese dip. When my food was brought to me, in very obviously dirty hands, I was reminded that I must get my cheese dip from the communal cheese dip barrel in the center of the room. I loaded up my tortilla with rice and beans, and headed to the barrel to dip my tortilla package into the cheese dip.

Even in my dream, it was DISGUSTING. Tasted...just awful. It was then I discovered the spout in the barrel of cheese dip and filled up a glass of the gooey white stuff. In my dream, I continued to eat my food, even though it was GROSS! Even in my dream I had a hard time stomaching it.

Then of course I woke up.

So, I need help. If anyone out there has any experience in the whole "Dream Decoder" thing, please help me out.

What does this dream mean?! From the uncleanliness of the restaurant, to the disgusting communal cheese dip, to the totally gross food, yet I STILL continued to eat it...what the crap is my subconscious trying to tell me?!

One Born Every Minute

Did anyone else watch this last night? I've been waiting a few weeks for it to come on, laughing at the commercials. It looked like such a good show, I think I would watch it even if I wasn't pregnant going through a baby show addiction!

Anywho, here are some thoughts:

Did anyone else feel sorry for Pam? She was the nurse to the couple that was dead set on a natural delivery. (I can't remember their names, but they had a doula, and a midwife named Liza.) To be honest, I don't think a hospital setting was the correct choice for the type of birth they were anticipating. I think they should have stayed at home, or used a birthing center. They refused any help from poor Pam, and wouldn't even listen to her. She was just trying to do her job.

There was multiple times when I thought the husband deserved a good swift kick to the throat! I think he made everything worse with his snarky remarks, "Um, can we please keep all comments positive?!". It's hard to stay positive when you're wife has been laboring for 20+ hours and refuses any help! Including monitoring their child who could very well be in distress! I am all for the natural experience, but if you're not going to use the hospital for anything other than a room to deliver, why didn't you stay home?!

Their number one mistake was treating their birth plan like it was set in stone. A birth plan is just that, a PLAN. And unfortunately, plans change, and you need to be prepared for the those changes, and welcome them. In the end they ended up using pitocin to bring their little Eleanor into the world, which was the right choice for them. The way they treated the nurse, was inexcusable. She was nothing but kind, caring, and concerned. Like I said before, she was just doing her job!

I loved the 40 year old mama having her second child in 12 months. She and her husband made me laugh. Although the ease of her labor made me INSANELY jealous! She progressed so quickly, and was able to push her baby out so easily, with what appeared to be NO PAIN. Hubby lost MAJOR points for forgetting the memory card, but at least they have the whole experience documented! {Seriously makes me want to check, and then check again so that when the time comes, all memory cards are in place! As well as batteries.}

Lastly there was Tasha and Devin. Funny they're the only names I remember. The image of Devin pushing the travel system box down the hallway in a wheelchair made me laugh. I could totally relate with Tasha and her birth experience. Her first experience was all too similar to my own first birth experience and I thought she was a trooper for trying it out a second time. Seeing how quickly things can change, and how scared she was made me thankful I never had to go through that. The babies heart started decelerating and she was rushed to the OR to deliver via c-section. Which I think is best, the baby was 9lb 12oz! An ounce bigger then my biggest.

All in all, I was really pleased with the show! I think it is a must-see for expecting parents. I think it will educate them like no other delivery show has! Not only that, but it's just an entertaining show all together. It makes you want to cry, laugh, and of course kick people in the throats.

If you missed it last night, it airs Tuesdays at 10pm, on Lifetime. I DVR'd it thinking I wouldn't be able to hack an hour long show that starts at 10, but I ended up making it. :) If you were able to catch it, what were your thoughts?
