Writers Workshop: A Memorable Sleeper...Sleep Wa....errr...Eater I Mean. Or both...whatever...

Mama’s Losin’ It

It's hard to say when it all really started. I remember waking up to piles of wrappers. Sometimes I would literally wake up IN piles of wrappers. Other times they would litter my bedside table and the floor beside my bed. Then I began noticing other signs. Open cabinet doors, empty boxes scattered on the kitchen floor...snacks had begin disappearing in the night.

I didn't really understand what was going on. I remember having strange dreams. One night I dreamt that I held up a local Wendy's. But instead of taking money behind the cash register, I sat on the floor behind the counter and ate all of the food. Finally one night I became semi-conscious to what was happening. I remembered waking up, walking to the kitchen and retrieving a package of Double Stuft Oreo's. I preceded to down half of the package. I remember just standing at my kitchen island shoving one Oreo after another in my mouth, as though I couldn't get them in fast enough. It was the strangest thing, and oddest feeling. I knew I was doing this, but I couldn't stop myself. It was as though I was watching myself, or having an out of body experience. I thought, I MUST be having another wacked out eating dream like the Wendy's robbery. But when I woke the next morning the evidence, a half empty package of Oreo's, stood glaring at me with hard proof upon my kitchen island. Finally I couldn't deny what was staring me in my face.

I had been sleep eating.

I've been told throughout my life funny stories of my sleep talking or sleep walking. I never once remembered saying or doing the things I was told I said or did. I would just laugh it off. After all I knew other sleep walkers and talkers, it wasn't that big of deal. And it really wasn't all that uncommon.

But sleep eating? Eating in my sleep?? This wasn't normal. This wasn't something I could laugh about. {Although I have laughed about it with close friends on occasion.} This was embarrassing. Was I really so addicted to food that my addiction was carrying over into my SLEEP? What was causing this? Why was I doing this to myself?!

To be honest, I still don't know. I've never had any sleep studies done. It's never gotten to the point where I felt I was putting myself in danger, and it's not something I do ALL of the time. Poor Mel has woken up to the clang of a metal spoon on a porcelain bowl while I sat beside him, eating cereal in my sleep though, so he has lost a little sleep to it. I also found myself eating not-so-good things. I've tried using child locks on the cabinets. Which don't really work because if I know how to open them when I'm awake, I can open them when I'm asleep. So we used the most aggravating, hard to open locks we can find. And it worked! But not really...instead of grabbing cabinet foods, I was eating weird things like tubs of butter or sour cream. {Just the thought makes me want to gag.}

My biggest triggers are stress, going to bed hungry, and dieting. {Usually when I'm dieting, I'm going to bed hungry.} I'm sure I do it more than I'm aware. I'm sure there's not always going to be evidence to see that I've spent another night eating. As far as how OFTEN I do it? I honestly have no idea what-so-ever. I thinks it's safe to say at LEAST once a week, but I really don't know. I know I go through cycles where I'm doing it more than usual. These are times when I'm usually stressed to the max for whatever reason.

This is probably my biggest confession of all time. It's not something I share with everyone. Only my closest friends and family know. And we laugh about poor Mel waking to the clanging of my cereal bowl. But it's just not something I've liked sharing.

Is there anything you do that others may find weird? Come on, help me out and help me feel like not so much of a weirdo! ^_^

{This was written after seeing Mama Kat's Writing Prompts for this week. The prompt was: "What is going on in the bedroom? Describe a memorable sleeper."}

Confessions of a Photog Nazi 7&8

Oh I'm not done confessing. Nope, not done at all!

So you may remember a little confession about my love for some kiddy-pop tunes. Well confession number seven is very similar....

#7 I'm a Disney Channel watchin', Nickelodeon Lovin' Mama!!!

iCarly, Sonny With a Chance, Wizards of Waverly Place, and yes even Hannah Montana....yup, I watch 'em! Not only do I "bare" with them for my kiddo's, I actualy *gulp* ENJOY them! At first it started out like any other kids show, background noise while I got work done. Then I found myself laughing at them. Then I found myself stopping to watch a few minutes. Next thing I know I'm pausing them when I leave room! Then, if pausing wasn't bad enough, I started RECORDING them on the DVR!! I knew I couldn't blame it on the kiddo's anymore when hubby came home last one night and I was sitting on the couch watch iCarly, AFTER the kiddo's had gone to bad...

Now don't knock me! It's actually very entertaining! Do I see oscars in any of the actors careers? No. Not anytime soon. (If ever.) But they're good, fun shows. Sometimes it seems like all of the dramatic "adult" shows are just too much. It's exhausting to watch them! It's always sex, and affairs, and murders, and twists, and turns. NO morals WHAT SO EVER. At least I always know I can watch one of the above shows without having to worry about my kids being in the room. They don't make me feel guilty, there's no Christian bashing, it's just clean humor, and fun stuff. Don't get me wrong, I love Bones, and House, and some of the bad stuff I mentioned, but a lot of topics do bother me. I have yet to be bothered by anything on the Disney and Nick shows. Seriously, if you have never watched them, and you come across an episode, stick around for a little while! I have a sneaking suspicion you won't turn the channel right away!

#8 I ♥ FRED

"Who is Fred?" You ask? THIS is Fred:

I came to know Fred from watching iCarly. He guest starred on the show one day. At first I was confused. "Who is this completely obnoxious kid?!" I thought. "OMG SOOOO Annoying! How could ANYone watch his videos's?!?!" Were other thoughts of mine. But the second or third time I watched the 'iMeet Fred' episode, I found myself laughing. It was just so weird and random! So I decided to Google this Fred character. I literally sat and watched about 10 of his videos. And laughed. A lot. Is his "voice" obnoxious? Yes. Do the video's make any sense what-so-ever? No. You could go on and on about all the things WRONG with the Fred video's. And I'm pretty sure many people have. But Fred is just something you have to "get". You either get it, or you don't. It's that simple. There's many, many things, in my silly life that other people just don't get. I laugh at things other people don't laugh at. I do things that I think are soooo funny, that other people just don't get. Well I get Fred. And I ♥ Fred.

Here's a link to one of my old fave's from Fred: Fred Works Out If you laugh at it, then you're just like me and I love you! If you hate it and think it's stupid, then you probably hate me and think I'm stupid....

#6 I’m addicted to the “Ville's”

It’s true. Sad, disgusting, yet TRUE. I, Brianne Renwick, am addicted to  real-time simulation games on Facebook. {Off topic, but a clip from Half Baked just ran through my head where Thurgood is admitting he is addicted to marijuana, and Bob Saget stands up and says, “Marijuana is not a drug. I used to suck d!$# for coke. Now that's an addiction. You ever suck some d!$# for marijuana?”, in which case I would have to say, I have never sucked d!$# to harvest crops…} Excuse the language guys…
Anywho, I cannot go a 24 hours without harvesting, plowing, planting, shooing away gophers, crows, or raccoons, fertilizing, visiting neighbors, working in a factory, shopping at simulated furniture stores, feeding, cleaning, or playing with a virtual pet. I can say with a hint of pride that I have not been sucked into Fishville or Cafe World at least! Just Yo, Farm, and Petville. I can also say with pride that unlike other addicts I have not spent a dime on my addiction. Even as tempting as it may be to buy Yocash, or FarmCash, or whatever cash is on Petville. (Most likely petcash???)

I love all my little gifts, and bonuses, and all sorts of other schtuff’s I get to do with my Ville’s! I don’t know how long this addiction will last, but I don’t see myself on A&E’s Intervention anytime soon.

These are actual screenshots from my little virtual lives! lol

I don’t know what it is that’s so darn addicting, but they just ARE! Part of me wants to recommend that you stay far, far away, part of me wants to tell you to be my dang neighbor!!!!!!!

Whelp! Until next time folks!!!!

With Love,

Confessions of a Photog Nazi 5

#5 My long-time love affair with cutest can around.

I think there are two types of people. Coffee drinkers, and non-coffee drinkers. You may enjoy a steaming cup of brew every now and again, and THINK you’re a coffee drinker. But you’re not a coffee drinker. We all know one. We may even be one. These people live for their coffee. Or should I say live OFF of their coffee? They have that favorite blend, that favorite brand, and have their favorite mug. Me, I’m not a coffee drinker. Now I love a good coffee every now and again, but I put so much creamer and sugar in it that it’s a sorry excuse for a rich brewed beverage. But what coffee is to a coffee drinker, Diet Coke is to me.

I have carried on a love affair with Diet Coke for almost 4 years now. We were
friends for many years before it turned into something more. But now we’re inseparable. I can’t even go a full 24 hours without this delicious, calorie-free, bubbly beverage. I wake up to a can every morning, and drink one every night before bed. I drink diet coke with every meal. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I drink it between meals with snacks, or if I’m just thirsty. It’s a despicable thing I know. Especially to you healthy people out there. I can’t even remember the last time I drank water. Or anything other than Diet Coke for that matter. It’s scary to think of what I could possibly be doing to myself….hmmm….

But alas, I will continue on this sick affair until I see fit. Maybe I’ll grow tired of my love one day. Until then we will enjoy every thirsty moment together in pure joy.

Here’s to you Diet Coke! My love! My refreshment! My quencher of thirsts!

#4 I listen to my kids CD’s. {Even when they’re not with me.}

It’s not unusual to catch me jamming out to Hannah Montana, or even worse, The Imagination Movers, on any given day. It’s just that their tunes are so dang catchy!! Some of them are even, *gasp* GOOD. Funky little beats and tempos! lol I just think that kids songs have come a long way since “This is the song that never ends…” and the Barney song. I wish I had such jammable songs when I was my kids age. Okay, since I know you’re DYING to know here’s a peek at some songs that keep me coming back for more:

“It’s All Right Here”-Hannah Montana 3 {Click HERE to listen to a little clip.}

and

”We Can Work Together”-Imagination Movers: For Those About To Hop {Click HERE to listen to a little clip.}

Confessions of a Photog Nazi 1-3

#1 For serious?!

While everyone drools over Orlando Bloom, Matthew McConaughey, Patrick Dempsey, and all the other six-pack flaunting hotties, I choose to drool over a totally different crowd of gentlemen. In fact if you googled "Hottest Male Actors" I don't think you would find any of my celeb-crushes on the lists. Granted I did see Brad Pitt, and James Franco on the list. However I only find Brad's rough and dirty "Tyler Durden", and Franco's super stoned "Dale Denton" to be Photog Nazi drool-worthy. So here's a peek at the super-yummy menu of hunky deliciousness:

#2 Is my dork showing?

Yes I think it is. I am a complete Twilight/Harry Potter fanatic. So much so that the only movie premieres I have ever been to would be Twilight, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and New Moon. Not only did I attend the premiere, but I went to all three midnight showings. Yes I was a ticket release watching, early ticket buying, standing in line forever, to see a movie based on a children's book type of freak. For New Moon, I even downloaded a New Moon theme for my blackberry and wore a Team Jacob shirt. It's horrible. You don't even want to know the types of Twilight paraphernalia I own. It would put sixteen year old girls to shame. There are few things I get excited about in life and among new super-cool vacuums, I get excited about Twilight and Harry Potter. Oh and of course anything zombie…but you know that's a whole other confession.

#3 I <3 my vacuum

It is the Cadillac of vacuums. Not quite the Bentley of vacuums the way the ever-so-amazing Kirby is, but everyone loves a good Cadi. I have a Kenmore Progressive and this thing is a-ma-zing. While I have pined over a Kirby for years, and probably will for years to come, I am head over heels for my Kenmore. When the inevitable life of my 8 year old Dirt Devil hand-me-down came to an end I knew we would have to get something good. Something that had POWER, and could get the job done! First we bought a $75 vacuum of some sort from Target. It sucked. But not the way vacuums should. It sucked as in it was HORRIBLE. It came with one of those duster wand things that broke within DAYS, and it was bagless and emptying it was so nasty. Not only that, but it clogged every.single.time that we used it. I hated that thing with a passion. After some long, LONG time doing research on the web I discovered the Kenmore progressive. There was a little sticker shock at the price, but it was nowhere near the tag on a Kirby or Dyson, AND we waited and got it on sale. Let me tell you, it was one of the BEST purchases we have made. I love my vacuum! It sucks like you wouldn't believe, and purrs like a little baby kitten. It's so quiet that I can talk on the phone while it runs. And get this, it TELLS you when the spot you are vacuuming is clean!!! It has a magical little dirt sensor that will turn green once the area is clean. And no, it's not on a timer that turns green after a certain amount of time vacuuming. That sucker literally knows when it's clean! If you vacuum a "red" spot it will turn orange, than yellow, than green when it's clean. When you move to a new red spot, and move back to the clean spot it will turn green to let you know it's already clean! It's amazing…it's never clogged on us before, it's beltless so there's no worry of having to replace a belt, and it has a neat little bag that I just throw away without dumping dust and yuckiness into a garbage can just for it to poof back up into my face. So yea, I confess, I love my vacuum!
