My Girls Must Be Part Vampire...

My girls seriously must be part vampire, or SOMEthing. At least the way they were acting this morning in the car, you would think that they were some sort of vampire. Or possibly allergic to the sun.

When they are not hitting, scratching, screaming, or yelling they can actually be rather docile at times during our car rides. I will be driving along peacefully, enjoying the way the sky turn vibrant colors, while the sun finally rises over the trees. That's when it happens. The sun creeps slowly in through the windows, and apparently viciously attacks my unsuspecting children, while they sit, locked in their car seats.

"Ohhhh, myyyyy, GAWSH, Mo-mmmmmy!" Hailey wails, while Leah thrashes about, trying unsuccessfully to get away from the blinding light. "Mine eyes! Mine eyes!" She squeals, while her brave older sister sacrifices one of her hands to cover her sisters eyes, before they are violated by the suns harmful rays. The thrashing, and screaming, and pleading continues until the van is finally covered in the protection of shade from passing trees. "I haaaaate the sun!" Hailey dramatically wails. And for a few brief moments, we are spared the torture that only the sun can bring to my poor childrens innocent eyes.  As soon as we reach a break in trees, the sun rushes in, once more creating the havoc that is my life.

This might sound like an exaggerated portrayal of actual events, but no my friends. That is actually a VERY accurate and true story. Were I exaggerating, I would have thrown in hissing, while bearing their cat like claws, but no, I completely stuck to the facts here!

We have tinted windows, we've tried pulling down the visors, I've bought them sunglasses, but nothing helps. On more then one occasion I have driven down the road with one hand while I try and block the sun with the other. I suppose this is just one more unfortunate side effect that I will have to deal with this spring and summer until we are relieved in the fall.
