The Attack of the Paper Clip Wielding Baby

One day {recently}, as I sat with my laptop perched upon my lap, comfy and cozy on my worn couch, Leah toddled over and crawled up to sit with me. I didn't pay much attention as this is something that happens on a daily basis. Even when she stood up against me and started playing in my hair, I still didn't pay attention. I believe that is where I went wrong. Had I been paying close attention I would have noticed that her beautiful, dimpled hands held something. Something small, and shiny. But no, I didn't realize the danger until it was too late. Things very quickly went from very routine, to very scary.

Leah began shoving a paper clip into my ear canal.

She was so tenacious about it! At first it was funny, and she was slow, and gentle almost like she was curious as to what would happen if she were to put the "shiny cold thing" into mommy's ear. Then something took over her and she became menacing and scary. She kept ramming her small body against me, clearly trying to puncture and permanently maim my eardrum. It went from "cute innocent learning toddler", to "psycho possessed toddler torture" in less then 60 seconds.

{I was so scared.}
{Not like that ↑, that is too scary and psychotic.}

Like Childs Play but with a much more cuter, and less psychotic looking Chucky. Chuckette we could call her.

Things abruptly came to a stop when I realized what danger and violation my poor ear was enduring.

I quickly grabbed it from her and explained that you NEVER, NEVER put ANYthing in ears.

I pray this experience had some lasting impact on her subconscious.

All paper clips are now placed safely, and securely out of reach.

oh wow!! (love the pics btw!) that's scary!! Nolan tried putting two pencils (sharp side in) in his ears once and I about freaked!

Joys of parenting right there... risking permanent damage to something at least once a day ;)

Wow! That is a story you will be retelling over and over! Just tell it while you cover your ears.
