The Diaper Nazi

While changing a stinky diaper this morning:

Leah, "Put your shirt up mommy!". {Meaning "filter up", as in you pull your shirt up and over your nose to avoid ghastly smells.}

Me, "If you went poo-poo in the potty Leah, I wouldn't have to put my shirt up."

Leah, "I don't want to."

Me, "Why don't you want to go in the potty?"

Leah, "It's sick mommy. It's sick."

Me, "Going poo-poo in the potty is sick?"

Leah, "Yes." {Really it's more of a yeth.}

Me, "No, Leah pooping in your diaper is sick."

Leah, "Hu-uh!".

Joshua and Hailey were both potty trained at 2 and a 1/2. Pretty much 2 years, 6 months exactly. And it only took maybe 2 days.

Because Leah is {what I like to tell myself believe} so smart, and somewhat advanced, especially with speaking I thought we'd be able to reason with her earlier than 30 months, and have her potty trained between 18 and 24 months.

After all, she was speaking in full sentences. I mean, you'd think she'd get the whole, "go in the potty" deal.

I was SO delighted when I sat her down and she actually went! I was amazed and excited! I was going to have one young potty goer on my hands!

It wasn't meant to be.

I was never able to get Leah to go again after that day.

A few months ago, I decided to get Leah some "big girl panties". She loves wearing bloomers and calling them panties, so I thought that would be a great motivation for her!

I was wrong. Again.

For some unknown reason, while she loves wearing panties OVER her diaper, she was NOT comfortable with wearing panties without a diaper on.

She totally freaked out.

That was a few months ago, and since I have just decided to wait until she hits the 2 and a half mark.

We do talk about it though. And we always get the same thing, "I don't want to." *pout*pout* "I want to wear my diiiiiiiiiii-aper." *pout*pout*

Or more recently, the conversation above.

I have faith that she will be ready around 2 1/2, but I won't lie, I have visions having a 5 year old in diapers.

Because going in the potty is "sick".
