I'm not sure if it's due to genetics, or ear structure, or breast feeding, or what it is, but somehow all of my kiddos have been spared, for the most part, the dreaded ear infection!
I believe Joshua was diagnosed around the age of 3 with one, and Hailey around 2'ish. But that's it.
Now all of a sudden, ALL three of my kiddos have been diagnosed with ear infections within just a couple of weeks of each other! This is actually Leah's first ear infection I believe.
Poor Hailey's was the worse. I have NEVER in my life seen my baby girl in such pain! She literally howled for about 5 hours straight. It took several doses of pain medication and numbing ear drops before she felt any relief. I honestly had NO idea that they were so painful!! Joshua did mention his ear hurt, and Leah too, but it didn't seem to bother them much. But poor Hailey was in agony.
I can't help but feel INCREDIBLY grateful that my babies didn't have to go through this repeatedly in their little years. I've seen so many mama's posting on facebook about their little ones ear infections. I have friends whose kiddos have had multiple ear infections, and even my own nephew had to have tubes put in his ears after multiple infections.
I don't know if it's just been the luck of the draw, but I hope Grayson holds the same fate and is spared the many ear infections so many kiddos have to suffer through. :( I don't know if it's anything I've done, I doubt it, but if it is, I hope whatever it is, is done for him too!
Leah is the last to be hit with an ear infection, and she is also battling strep. Her fevers seems to be lower, and further between, and she hasn't complained of her "mouth" hurting since this morning. Hopefully the antibiotics will kick the infections butt and she'll be well asap.
