Last year I thought I had failed at Easter because I was shopping for Easter basket fillings, Easter eggs, and candy at 4 in the friggin' morning.
But no. Last year was an EASTER WIN!
The kiddo's woke up to Easter baskets, we attended an awesome Easter church service, and had an awesome Easter lunch with our family, followed by our yearly Easter egg hunt. It was great.
This year?
Well, I did have the Easter baskets full and ready, set out the night before. And I DID have candy filled eggs, just waiting to be hidden and hunted by excited children!
But they were never hunted.
We never made our way to church, I didn't spend time with family over an amazing Easter feast, and I didn't have a blast chasing the kids through the yard snapping away on my camera while they hunted their eggs in their beautiful Easter get up.
Nope.
I woke up sicker than spit. My throat hurt so bad. My glands? Swollen, and painful as spit. It sucked.
The kiddos got their baskets. But did I get to see, or capture the joy on their faces as they wiped the sleep from their eyes and discovered their toy filled baskets of candy and heaven?! No. :( I didn't get to join them for an amazing Easter service at church, or run around the yard capturing my kiddos happiness as they collected hidden eggs.
I was stuck in bed, and on the couch. Talking with an almost drunken slur caused by the pain from my swollen lymph nodes.
I painfully endured a delicious breakfast prepared by my loving hubby of bacon and eggs, and toast, and watched Megamind with my babies. A gift from the Easter bunny. So despite things, it was as good a day as possible. And Joshua and Hailey did get to hunt their eggs, at their grandparents house. So not all was lost.
And the candy. The kids chowed on some candy, you best believe it.
And of course the true meaning behind Easter wasn't lost. Joshua received "The Action Bible" from the Easter bunny and we read the Easter story about Jesus dying for us, and then rising again. It was awesome.
