Leah is doing FABULOUS!!! We arrived at the hospital at 5:30 this morning. They gave her some medicine that totally doped her up, and off to surgery she went. It was nice that they gave her the dopey medicine before they started her IV, or did anything. They started the surgery 2 minutes after 8am and it took about an hour. He was able to reconstruct her nailbed, and put the little tiny tip back together. She has no nail at this time, but there is a 90% chance that it will grow back!! She got 4 or 5 stitches, which was hard to believe because her little pinky is sooooo tiny! When she started waking up in recovery I was able to go see her. She was completely out of it. For about an hour she was just screaming, and hitting, and kicking, and crying. She had a huge, but pretty, purple cast that covered her whole little hand, and went up above her elbow! Get this, she threw such a fit while coming to, that she threw her cast right off her little arm!!! (But not before knocking her daddy in the mouth almost giving him a fat lip.) Everyone was shocked! Instead of trying to replace the cast they just bandaged it up really secure. I was kind of glad. The cast was a "boxing glove" type cast and she wouldn't have been able to use her hand at all. Not to mention she could have hurt herself or Joshua and Hailey. We all got home around noon and had a much needed nap!
I am so thankful for everyone's prayers! I really felt calm today, not upset like normal and I know it was everyone's thoughts and prayers that got me through. So thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
On a different note, I want to wish my love the bestest of birthdays!! I know it was stressful having our baby girl go through such an event, but I hope it was as good as possible. I love you more than you'll ever know! Forever and ever babe!!
