GJR 9 Months

Dear Grayson,

You're 3/4 of a year old today. 9 months old! I recently described mommyhood to a friend as, "Nothing else can make your heart simultaneously swell with pride but break with sadness yet soar with happiness all at the same time.". That pretty much sums up my feelings this morning.

I'm sad. My baby is growing up faster than I can imagine. But how can you not look at your sweet smile and feel anything but happy???

{Do you see your "wings"? Your daddy has them too. ^_^ When he gets his "wings" over his ears, it's time to cut his hair! And look at those adorable little TEEFERS!}

You are the sweetest of sweet. When I walk in the room you light up and start jibber jabbering away! Sometimes if you REALLY want me you will start fussing, and I can't help but laugh. When I pick you up, you snuggle into me, and I melt. You're definitely one of my cuddlers and I'm so blessed. I think if you were more independent and pushed away I would go mad.

{Drama Baby}

You have quite the flair for the dramatics. If you're wanting to be held and I put you down, you throw yourself to the ground, put your face into your hands, and wail. If something isn't going your way, you have a tendency to dramatically throw your head back, eye closed, mouth wailing. And I can't help but laugh. Sometimes you're so dramatic your flailing about accidentally leaves you falling backwards. Then it's all over and your done for, I have to pick you up for fear you will be permanently emotionally scarred.

{See?? At least you're adorable when you're being dramatic. On the left you've just run out of berries. On the right you just didn't feel the need to get ready and put shoes on to leave the house.}

Most recently you've become really sensitive. Don't get me wrong, you're a tough cookie. You have to be, honestly. You wouldn't make it otherwise. But you're sensitive, your heart is HUGE and if I can already tell now, then I can only imagine the caring, loving, sweet, sensitive, man you will grow to be. You're very much like Joshua in that aspect. You share more than your looks with your big brother it seems. :) An example, which I just can't help but share...you were sitting in your toy box, yes in, when your little behind wiggled to far to one end causing it to tip up. You grabbed the handles on the side and kind of road it down while it slowly and gently dumped you out onto the ground, followed by your toys. You. FREAKED. I couldn't help but giggle as I rushed to you to pick you up and reassure you that you were, despite your beliefs at the time, just fine.

{A cutie patootie!!}

This past month has not been a picnic for you. Bless your "pea pickin' heart" as one may say. You cut 3 teeth all at once and it took a toll on you, you're pop, and I. Mainly our sleep and my nipples. LOL But I know your poor little gums got the brunt of it. They've all finally popped through so I know the worst is behind us until more starting coming in. But I know they still bother you. I'm sorry. :(

You. Are. Into. Everything. Every. Single. Thing. LOL I always considered my house baby proof, most of our precautions still left over from you siblings. I was wrong. So far you have:

  • Been caught playing in the toilet.
  • Taken the plug-in air fresheners apart, causing our first call to poison control when you decided to chew on the wick.
  • Gotten into our plasic bag collection.
  • Spilled countless drinks.
  • Dumped at least 3 bags/boxes of food onto the floor.
  • Crawled into and fallen out of several laundry baskets.
  • Pulled our entire DVD collection onto the floor around you.
  • Godzilla'd an entire afternoons folding session of laundry.
  • Crawled into a wet shower immediately after being changed and dressed for the day.
  • And I could write a book on the things we've extracted from you mouth.

We made a baby proofing trip to Lowes but you'v prooved that there are even more provisions that need to be made. With some we're just simply at a loss. We try and block you into the living room, but 98% of our attempts fail. You're a sneaky little booger!

{You look like you're plotting something here...}

You Love:
FOOD! You love pretty much anything we put in front of you. I think your favorite is cheetos and grape though. The cheetos are a mom fail. Don't care, everyone needs a special treat every now and again! During our most recent trip to Ikea you were chowing down on meatballs, mashed potatoes, lingenberrie's, you loved it ALL! We finished with a slice of chocolate cake which you promptly gagged on! It was funny I must say. You're not a chocolaty guy I suppose. You love mommy's milk MOST of all and it's still your main source of food and basically only source of hydration! ^_^ I hope you nurse as long as possible!

{You love tortellini and Greek yogurt!}

THIS LITTLE PIG! Ha! I can distract you, cheer you up, keep you entertained FOREVER playing "This little piggie." on your toesies. You're fave party is "wee wee all the way home" of course. ^_^

READING. You love sitting in my lap while I read you stories, or name things in picture books. Sometimes I think you have a hard time choosing if you want to chew on the book or hear the story. :O)

MOMMY! Of course. ^_^ Yes. You're officially proclaimed a mama's boy! I declare it TODAY. And I don't mind it. Love, love it.

GROWLING! You're a little monster. It cracks me up. :)

9 Month Stats:

Length: 30 inches putting you in the 90th % for height!
Weight: 20 lb's putting you only in the 50th % for weight.

You're loooong and skinny! :D

So...we have a SUPER BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!! You, my dear...are...a....

WALKER!!!!!!

You've gone from your first steps, to a few here and there, to several, to a dozen, to WALKING CLEAR ACROSS THE ROOM!!! You're still learning how to steady yourself and all. You will crawl if you don't have something to help you get into a standing position. But you're walking. And it's amazing. :)

I love you sweet boy and while I'm so sad you're growing quick I'm so excited to see what next adventure awaits us!!

Xoxoxoxoxoxoxo,
Mommy
