Musical Monday #17

I am in love with this woman's voice. This is my new fave song of hers. Everything of hers is my favorite thought really. And is she not GORGEOUS? Uh, I just LOVE her!

Snot Sucker!

3 out of 4 of my babies are sick. We're talking coughing, snot dripping noses, sore throats, swollen glands, you know...all the good stuff. I am sucking the nastiest junk out of Grayson's nose that no person should ever in their life have to see. I hate sucking his nose out, because he hates it. I'm just ever-so-thankful that kids hit an age where you no longer have to assault their tiny nostrils with a snot sucking syringe of doom.

Amongst the big huge ginormous world of interwebs I have come across an alternative to the evil nasal syringe. When I first saw this device I thought for sure it was some sort of a gag gift. There was no way this was an actual thing people use. But no. This thing is for real. People use it for real. And I've even seen mom bloggers RECOMMEND it!

I'm speaking of this little gem:
This is the Nosefrida Baby Nasal Aspirator. A real-life snot sucker. You stick the nose part in your wee ones nose, and the tube in your mouth. And you suck. You suck the snot out of your babies nose. YOU suck it. Not a syringe, your MOUTH, sucks your babies SNOT from their nose.

I can't stomach it.

It's actually supposed to be a great thing. Doctor recommended, even fellow mom recommended. Like I've said, I've seen mom bloggers suggest it to other mom bloggers. I'm not knocking it. I just couldn't do it personally. Based on the fact that the snot sucker comes with filters I'm guessing there is some sort of mechanism to keep the snot from actually entering your mouth. But I still couldn't do it. It's completely a mental thing.

Mr. Evil Bulb Syringe will work just fine for me.

Could you do it? Could you physically suck the mucous from your baby with your mouth? Don't get me wrong, if there were no alternative, I'd go to the ends of the earth for my baby, but there is an alternative. What are your thoughts?

The efforts...

There's no lie that this past week has been hard on my appetite and hunger. It's been brow beating them into submission and there was many times I was ready to throw my hands up and be done with it. I didn't give up though. Even when I completely blew my Weight Watchers points out of the water, even when I cheated, even when I was at my worst, I pushed through and started each day anew!

On a whim I decided to weigh this morning. I was nervous because I knew seeing a bad number would push me into giving up. Why torture myself for nothing? I stepped on, and as I watched the little digital ball bouncing across the scale, waiting to reveal my future my stomach dropped. I almost couldn't watch. Blink...blink...blink...I swear that ball on the scale is as bad as the hour glass on a digital pregnancy test. It seriously seemed to take ten times longer than usual, but finally, there it was...

My efforts had paid off! I am down 1.8 lb's this week! But I'm going to go ahead and call it an even 2, because I can if I want to.

I'm glad I pushed through and didn't give up, and I'm really glad that I was able to enjoy success this week. I weighed in after a HORRIBLE breakfast, {in my defense we're out of food and need to go grocery shopping} and it inspired me to really watch my lunch.

I'm actually excited to push myself this week. I may be even more strict so that I can cheat with a clean conscious for Leah's birthday party on Saturday.

Take that you stupid cravings! I WIN!

Friday Wrap Up

I'm not posting about food today. I don't have it in me to whine and complain anymore. But I will probably be back to it on Monday. Maybe. We'll see. Depends on just how whiney I am.

Labor Day weekend is upon us! This is our first Labor Day weekend at home in several years. We've always traveled up to PA with Tom in years past. This is our first Labor Day at home, and our first Labor Day without him. Usually it's holidays like Thanksgiving or Christmas that have you missing your loved ones. But I'm pretty sure every holiday is going to be heavy on my heart because he was always there every holiday. Pennsylvania for Labor Day, cookouts for Memorial day, Easter lunch, and then of course, Thanksgiving and Christmas. They're going to seem so empty now.

I'm beginning to wonder if it's at all possible that Grayson sleeps too much. I'm sure there are hundreds of moms out there that would want to slap me for even saying that. But seriously! He still sleeps like 20 hours a day! I'm not complaining, I'm just a worrier, and find anything out of the norm to be worrisome. Perhaps he just shares my love and affection for sleep.

Leah's preschool open house was yesterday! My baby girl is starting preschool. Oh my. The open house was lovely. She met her teachers, and was able to get acquainted with her classroom and her very own sippy cup! Her classmates were there, but everyone seemed to stick to themselves for the most part, staying within arms reach of their moms. Except for Leah of course. She completely ignored my presence, sat down and said, "Bye mom!". It was almost too much to bear. But I didn't want to make a scene. Luckily I am friends with another teacher at the preschool and we were able to catch up while Leah spent the hour playing, eating goldfish, and drinking water from her school cup. She's so ready for school!

Joshua and Hailey's first full week of school came to a close today. They are doing so amazingly well! I am so proud of them. When you're the mom of two kids with ADHD, and one of them has OCD on top of that, you worry like hell those first few weeks of school. Really, I worry daily, but nothing compares to those first weeks. In years past I would have already received a complaint or two by now, and I've heard nothing! Nothing but smiley faces and stickers. :D I am so, so proud.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy Labor Day weekend!

Not any easier...

Per the advice of an amazing person I forgo the Nutrigrain bar this morning and went with oatmeal with strawberries. I was out of fresh berries and bananas and didn't think apples would be very good atop oatmeal so I mistakingly went with some frozen strawberries that I defrosted in the microwave. Upon my first bite I was introduced to Gag City. Ewtastic should never be a word to describe breakfast. They were like super sweet and tart slugs. The oatmeal was pretty yummy considering the length of time it has spent taking up room in my pantry. I wouldn't call breakfast a complete fail, but it certainly wouldn't be accepting any breakfast medals that's for sure.

Ok so at first I was SO not full from breakfast therefore my addict brain said "NOT SATISFIED" very, very rudely at that, and I was bummed that I would be facing a morning full of hunger until lunch graced me with it's comfort of food. But to be honest, I WAS satisfied. I just didn't know it yet. I went about my morning, and literally before I knew it, it was lunch time! M'yes!

Lunch times wasn't quite a big of fail as breakfast. But almost. I'm trying to take foods I love and tweak them to be better for me. Instead of Honey Wheat with 4pts I ate Whitewheat with 3. Instead of 2 tbsp of mayo with my tuna, I cut it back to one tbsp. And only half at that because I only ate half of the tuna. What would have normally been an 8 pt sandwhich became a 5pt sandwhich. It was a heck of a lot dryer than what I prefer but it was good and I think I can get used to it. I added some Apple slices and a cheese stick. I'm trying to save my fresh veggies for snacks and for times I feel like I'm about to break and rob a fast food restaurant, but instead of take money, sit behind the counter while I hold the employees at gunpoint and eat all of their food.  I actually dreamt that I did that once. I was pregnant at the time.

Hunger hit hard and fierce around1:30p. I kept myself busy to keep my mind off it. It hadn't even been that long since lunch! I did good until about 3p. I couldn't take it anymore. NOTHING sounded good either. I caved and scarfed down a Nutrigrain bar. Okay, so "scarf" maybe harsh because I savored that thing. It wasn't the best decision as far as snacks but it could have been far worse considering who I am. It could have been a cupcake or well, a cake.

I was able to hold off on anymore smacking until dinner. Dinner. Oh dinner. Dinner is to me what that after meal cigarette is to a smoker. I don't do well at dinner. Okay, tonight I didn't even try. My will was beaten into the ground tonight. I started to mentally degrade myself for a moment, but then decided that I didn't give to loops that I failed at eating. I did really well all friggin' day. If losing weight is gonna work it's gonna be done my way, in baby steps and the bastard in my head beating me up over everything can STHU before I shove a twinkie in his throat hole to silent him. And because that's actually MY throat hole we'ere talking about here, I prefer this didn't happen.

Tomorrow is a new day! I'm going to keep trying this until I'm able to kick a whole days ass and will one day be kicking ass one week at a time and then a month at a time!

2 months

 Grayson-2 Months

You are 2 months old my sweet boy! {9 Weeks old today.} Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined what an amazing baby you would be. You have been such a blessing to our family. I have fallen so deeply in love with you! A love I've only ever known with your bubby and sissys and daddy is now yours to own too.

I can get so lost in your tiny, precious face. Watching you sleep is now a favorite way to spend my time. You're getting older and I'm starting to feel loved back! Your smile brightens up the room when you see me, and you are so sad when I put you down. These are all new things you're doing just this past week. You're also talking up a storm and officially sleeping through the night on a full time basis. You are the most happy, content, and dare I say lazy baby and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect fit! You still very rarely cry. You have your fussy moments but even then it's sometimes hard to tell if you're fussing or talking.

Some swear you favor Leah, and while I see her in you, you're such your own little person. You have a little of all of us in you. It's like God took the best in all of us and gave us you. I say at least a dozen times a day how beautiful/adorable/CUTE you are. I know I'm biased but I could just roll you up in a tortillas and eat you up! I love nibbling your chubtasticly delicious cheeks and gently pinching your adorably pudgy thighs.

Happy 2 months baby G. Thank you for picking me to be your mommy!

Time's a Villain

If I could humanize time he would be a dastardly villain with long skinny fingers he fiddles with under his handlebar mustache. And he says things like, "Meh" and "Yea, see." Through his nose. But pronounces "see" like "say".

Time is never kind. Never patient. Time knows nothing of love apparently. It never does what you want it to, or what it should do.

When you're 9 months pregnant and feel 82 months pregnant, miserable, and in pain, each day feels like a week. You're praying, CONSTANTLY, for time to hurry up. For that due date to come and give you relief.

When you're laying their awake, tired, dead tired, but unable to sleep, just hoping to get rest before your alarm clock goes off, time then decides to get off his ass, and sprint to morning, laughing his callous laugh, twiddling his mustache between his gangly fingers. "Muahaha, wanted to sleep eh? Not tonight see.".

Lately I've been begging time to slow down. Even just a little bit. Grayson is growing entirely too quickly for my liking. He's doing new things every day. And all I see is time staring me down with his ugly grin while my baby grows older each moment.

Right now I hate time.

Each day takes us further from the last time we spent with Tom, and closer to the time our babies aren't babies anymore.

I don't think time and I will ever get along.
